Puerto Plata- Samana- Jarabacoa Program:
Day 1: Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Welcome to Puerto Plata! Today when you arrive at Puerto Plata Airport, you will be met by a local iExplore Representative and driven to your hotel.
Iberostar Costa Dorada sits directly on the beach of Costa Dorada, just a short five minutes away from the bustling city of Puerto Plata in Dominican Republic. Over half a million tourists travel to Costa Dorada every year. Besides heading to the three- mile stretch of beach, they enjoy the shopping mall with its restaurants, bars, gift shops and Movie Theater. Historically significant, the city of Puerto Plata, literally “port of silver”, is believed to have been named by early Spanish settlers who named the town after discovering the water in the bay sparkled like silver.
Founded in 1502, Puerto Plata is the largest city on the Atlantic Coast and a focal point in the north. It is steeped in history dating from the arrival of the conquistadors, who came in search of gold.

Day 2: Puerto Plata
After breakfast at the resort today, depart for a Catamaran sailing adventure on Sousa Bay.
The sailing starts in Playa Dorada and leads along the coast to Sosua. In the background typical Dominican as well as international music, drinks and fruits at your disposal - just perfect for you to enjoy the passing by panorama.
The anchor will be set in the calm Bay of Sosua for the rest of the day, just aside a wonderful coral reef. All inspired snorkelers as well as the ones expecting to become are handed over a full equipment to jump over board and enjoy the tropical underwater world immediately. Or decide to start with a refreshing bath in the sea. Later on, a large buffet will be set up on board before sails are put up again for the return ride to Playa Dorada.
Return to the resort and enjoy dinner and the evening there.

Day 3: Puerto Plata- Samana
Today after breakfast you will transfer from Puerto Plata to Samana and to the Grand Paradise Samana.
The all-inclusive Grand Paradise Samana is set amidst an exotic and unspoiled natural environment; this resort is an ideal spot for people with free and adventurous spirit, who delight in natural milieus, or for those who need perfect leisure and rest.
The rest of the day is at leisure for you to get to know your surroundings and to enjoy the many amenities of the resort.

Day 4: Samana

Today enjoy a Jeep Safari & "El Limon" excursion. Surrounded by sumptuous tropical vegetation hides "El Limon"- one of the most famous waterfalls and a highlight of the Samana Peninsula. For about an hour you will ride horses uphill, through forests and over rivers. Arriving at the peak, you have a small walk down to the waterfall where a refreshing swim awaits you!

Day 5: Samana- Jarabacoa

After breakfast today, depart for the Cordillera Central, affectionately referred to as the Dominican Alps. The Cordillera Central is a magnet for nature lovers, with beautiful alpine vegetation, clear mountain air and stunning panoramas of the surrounding rolling landscape.
Check into your hotel in Jarabacoa- the Rancho Baiguate. Rancho Baiguate is located in valley of Jarabacoa, which stands at 500 meters above sea level in the Central Mountains, known as the land of eternal spring. Cool temperatures, the longest river of the Caribbean (Yaque del Norte), impressive waterfalls and the highest peak in the Antilles (Pico Duarte 3,087 meters) form a unique combination to the entire hemisphere. The Rancho Baiguate has 27 rooms to accommodate its visitors, 8 small rooms with two twin beds, 8 standard rooms with two queen beds and 10 masters’ rooms with two queen beds and balcony.
Take the rest of the day to relax and get to know your surroundings or perhaps visit the Hermanas Mirabal Museum.

Day 6: Jarabacoa
Today enjoy a day of river rafting.
Maximum adventure and fun for everyone. Hop on a raft and enjoy the cool waters of the Yaque del Norte River, the longest in the Caribbean. In the company of professional guides, you will go through canyons and rapids to the feel of an adrenaline rush. You will discover places unknown to most. Action, nature, a once-in-a lifetime adventure. Note: In order to be eligible for the raft ride, you must know how to swim, be over 12 years old and in perfect health, mental and good physical condition. This adventure includes the basic training and essentials- wetsuit, life jacket, helmet, breakfast, lunch and a snack.

Day 7: Jarabacoa- Depart Puerto Plata or Santiago
Today you will be transferred to either Puerto Plata Airport or Santiago Airport for your flight home.

Day 3: Santo Domingo- Bayahibe
Today you will be transferred from your hotel in Santo Domingo to Bayahibe. The remainder of the day is free for you to enjoy the wonderful amenities of the hotel and to get acquainted with your surroundings.
The Oasis Canoa La Romana hotel in Bayahibe is located within walking distance from the Eastern National Park, home of the biggest archaeological site from the island’s first inhabitants, the Taíno Indians. With the top dive sites nearby and at a short boat ride from Saona Island, our hotel in Bayahibe is less than thirty minutes away from the La Romana International Airport and the famous artists’ village, “Altos de Chavón”. The Oasis Canoa hotel has 532 rooms including Superior Garden view, Deluxe Garden view rooms with living room, Penthouse Suites and One-bedroom Villas with living room and secluded terrace. Day 4: La Romana/Bayahibe
Today enjoy a full-day Safari Adventure. This excursion leads you through the beautiful countryside of the Dominican Republic and gives some impressions about the life of its inhabitants. The safari crosses the tropical savannah near the river "Chavon", through sugar cane fields and the jungle of ”El Bonao". You will get some very interesting information about the cultivation and processing of sugarcane and the trip will also bring you to a tropical fruit plantation. On the back of horses you will head for lunch, where hammocks are awaiting you to relax after eating.
Later on, a stop at a tobacco plantation will give you all background information you always longed to get about cultivation and manufacture of the famous cigars. As a round off for the day, step onto a boat on the river Chavon and enjoy a drive up to the spot where the jeeps await you to get you back to your hotel.

... and get to know this excursion to the dream island Saona. After visiting the arts village „Altos de Chavon" you start descending to the river “Chavon", wherefrom the passage with speedboats starts. Enjoy the impressive views of the National Park "Del Este" and admire the variety of birds as well as dolphins and flying fish, for the lucky ones. Then take a refreshing bath in the natural bathtub of the Caribbean, the ”Piscina Natural".
Arriving to Saona, you will be awaited by a Barbecue buffet. Afterwards, there will be plenty of time to bath, sunbath or walk along the sandy beaches. Enjoy the unique nature in all its facets. In the late afternoon, a large catamaran will take you back to the point of departure.

Day 5: La Romana- Punta Cana
Depart from your hotel in the Bayahibe region to Punta Cana. Take the rest of the day to enjoy the hotel and get to know your surroundings.
All Inclusive resort located at Bávaro beach, only 35 minute-drive from the International Airport of Punta Cana and 90 minutes from La Romana International Airport. Day 6: Punta Cana
Depart this morning from the hotel for a day of fun- a “funny bike” tour along the coastline from Cabeza de Toro. Our Funny Bike tour leads on dusty roads along the coastline from “Cabeza de Toro" to remote places. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Atlantic coast before you have the opportunity for a short horseback ride. During the tour you even have the possibility to jump into the waves and take a refreshing swim!
Other options for this day:
Option 1: Eco Caribe Tour: This is the right excursion for the ones who would like to get to know the host country from its ecological side. Much information about the agriculture will be given. Visiting a school you will get to know about its system and the kids life. Even a cockfight arena is an interesting part of the Dominican life. Later on you will be given time to take a ride along the beach to enjoy the astonishing views and beautiful surroundings. Take a refreshing bath in the sea before you head for lunch. In the afternoon, you will be invited to visit a rice and a coconut plantation, and in a cheese factory you will learn about the processing of cheese in this country. The day will be rounded off by visiting a country and a Voodoo house to get even more background information, which helps to understand the daily rhythm of the Dominicans”.
Option 2: Three Cities Tour: Stroll through Higuey and visit the unique cathedral, which attracts pilgrims from all over the country. Afterwards you drive through large sugarcane fields and reach La Romana, where a typical Dominican lunch awaits you. After visiting a cigar manufacturer you drive along "Casa de Campo", one of the most luxurious vacation areas in the Caribbean. Walk in the nearby artists’ village "Altos de Chavon", which astonishes with its architecture, its charming small streets and the flowery vegetation. To round off your day, observe lots of birds on the "Rio Chavon" while taking a trip on a wheel steamer

Any customization requiring us to start with a new base itinerary will require a non-refundable upfront planning fee of $250 that is creditable towards the final trip price.
